Earlier today, I had the ple
asure of visiting Birchwood High School in Bishop’s Stortford to speak with two groups of Business Studies students, invited by Eman Dervish, their Head of Business.
I first met some of these students at the Bishop’s Stortford Means Business event, where their curiosity and confidence really stood out. I was so impressed that I reached out to the school to let them know — and was delighted when they asked me back to share my career journey, challenges, mistakes (many of these) and lessons learned along the way.
We had some great conversations about everything from the realities of building a business to how to handle setbacks and make smart money decisions. Their questions were thoughtful and full of insight and Eman was clearly a very motivated teacher — a real reminder that the future of business is in good hands.
Thank you to Eman and everyone at Birchwood for making me so welcome. If today enouraged even one young mind to believe that business can be both purposeful as well as profitable — that’s a win.
